Medipex NHS Innovation Awards and Showcase 2026
Friday 26 June 2026
Celebrating the innovative achievements of NHS staff and their collaborators.
On 24 June 2026, healthcare innovators and their supporters from across the UK came together online for the Medipex NHS Innovation Awards and Showcase 2026, to celebrate the outstanding innovative achievements of NHS staff who go above and beyond to improve patient care and outcomes through innovation.
The breadth of participation was reflected in entries from 24 different NHS trusts across the competition’s four NHS-led categories. The showcase celebrated 12 NHS finalists and, for the first time, five finalists in the new industry-led category, Industry led innovations to address patient safety challenges.
A highlight of the programme was a keynote address from Joanna Calvert, Senior Programme Manager at the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR), who shared insights into the NIHR Life Sciences Industry Hub, a new initiative to improve and increase commercial clinical trials.
Attendees also took part in a series of interactive breakout sessions covering paediatric health technology, digital health regulation, innovation adoption and common health technology development challenges. The NIHR HRC in Paediatrics and Child Health team were delighted to host one of the breakout sessions, ‘Barriers and Challenges in Paediatric Health Innovation’. The other breakout sessions were delivered by other leading innovation organisations: Medilink, Health Innovation Yorkshire and Humber and NIHR HRC in Long Term Conditions (Devices for Dignity).
