Caring Together Conference 2024

Tuesday 23 July 2024

Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust is one of three dedicated children’s hospitals in the UK and is an organisation with a fantastic culture for innovation and collaboration.

The Caring Together Conference held earlier this summer invited colleagues across the Trust to explore how listening to children, families, and each other are essential for delivering the Sheffield Children’s ‘Quality Promise’, which sets out how we will deliver safe, kind and outstanding care for everyone.

The programme for the day consisted of inspiring keynotes and interactive stalls from various departments and teams based around Sheffield Children’s Hospital (SCH). Highlights included Professor Laura Serrant OBE, Sheffield Children’s Chair of the Board, sharing her inspiring research on the importance of ‘Listening to Silence’ and CHILYPEP, a local young person empowerment organisation, showcasing how SCH is delivering the Quality Promise by meaningfully engaging with children, young people, and families across communities.

The NIHR HRC in Paediatrics and Child Health were delighted to be a part of the conference.

Our Project Managers, Jacob Branchflower and Jess McNeill, joined up with the SCH Clinical Research Facility to host an interactive stall that showcased the excellent research and innovation being conducted here at Sheffield Children’s. The team had a great time engaging with conference delegates by inviting them to play with Luna’s Light, an award-winning immersive virtual reality game designed for paediatric upper limb rehabilitation. Luna’s Light was developed through a collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University’s Impact VR lab and the NIHR HRC team and it was incredible to share it with our wonderful colleagues across the Trust.
