Applications Open: NHS Clinical and Patient Entrepreneur Programmes

Tuesday 10 November 2025

Now in its ninth year, applications are now open for the NHS Clinical and Patient Entrepreneur Programme.

The NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme (CEP) was launched in 2016 and is now in its ninth year of supporting innovators that want to make a difference for patients. This initiative is a free award-winning entrepreneurial work force development programme aimed at NHS staff, healthcare professionals, and patients.

Who is this for?

The NHS CEP works with over 60 partners including the British Medical Journal and Medilink to deliver a programme that equips participants with the skills, knowledge, and support to those developing healthcare innovations.

There are three programmes that are tailored to provide the right level of support for each cohort and are currently open for applications:

  • NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Programme: This workforce development programme enables NHS staff to learn the skills and knowledge to develop and spread innovative solutions in the NHS
  • Patient Entrepreneur Programme: This is a new programme aimed at patients and carers who are developing healthcare innovations
  • Dementia Innovators Programme: This is for professionals both within and outside of the NHS with an idea that could help improve life for those living with dementia
