Call for PhD Project Proposals: SCYPHeR
Monday 02 December 2024
South Yorkshire Children and Young People’s Health Research (SCYPHeR) are pleased to announce a call for submission of PhD project proposals for two fully funded (home stipend) SCYPHeR scholarships to start in October 2025.
These PhD scholarships are funded by Sheffield Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust thanks to generous investment from The Children’s Hospital Charity. There is funding available for two PhD scholarships based at the University of Sheffield, with secondary supervisors based at Sheffield Children’s Hospital for 3.5 years. A third optional advisor from Sheffield Hallam University is also desirable. Seeking additional external funding (for example, from industrial or charitable partners) is strongly encouraged.
What is SCYPHeR?
SCYPHeR is a thriving network of child health researchers who are working to foster a culture of collaborative research across the University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University and Sheffield Children’s NHS Foundation Trust. The projects should align with one or more of SCYPHeR’s research themes:
- Rare diseases
- Child health technology
- Mental health and wellbeing
- Child welfare and safeguarding
- Health inequalities
How to apply
To submit a project for advertising please complete the form using the link below by Thursday 12th December. Your project will be reviewed by the SCYPHeR Executive Committee and Faculty PGR Leads and if they have any queries they will contact you before confirming if the project will be advertised. Please be aware that there is funding for only 2 scholarships, so selection of a project for advertisement does not guarantee funding. Following the application deadline in January 2025, supervisors will be asked to select their top candidate to be put forward for shortlisting for interview. Should your candidate be shortlisted, the interview will be conducted by a panel from the Faculty PGR team.
The deadline for submission of projects is Thursday 12th December.
